Jason Spievak is the Chief Commercial Officer and director of Apeel Sciences. Apeel creates edible products from natural plant extracts that allow growers to reduce reliance on pesticides, increase produce quality, and double the shelf life of fresh produce. Apeel is backed by leading venture capital and impact investment firms Andreessen Horowitz, DBL Partners, and Upfront Ventures, and has been featured in the New York Times and Fortune magazine as potentially the best solution to world hunger. Jason is also a member of the faculty in UCSB's Technology Management Program and an active early stage technology investor.

Prior to Apeel, Jason was the co-founder and CEO of Invoca, the leading provider of mobile analytics software. Invoca is backed by leading venture capital firms Accel Partners, Upfront Ventures, and Rincon Venture Partners. Invoca was named the fastest-growing company on the California Central Coast in 2013 by the Pacific Coast Business Times.

Prior to Invoca, Jason was Chief Financial Officer at CallWave, Inc. (NASDAQ: CALL), where he led the company’s successful IPO in 2004 and was a key member of the senior team that brought the company to 12 consecutive quarters of revenue growth, GAAP profitability, positive cash flow, and 750,000+ paid subscribers. Prior to CallWave, Jason was a Vice President in the technology mergers and acquisitions group in Broadview International's (NYSE: JEF) Silicon Valley office, where he led the execution on more than $1.25 billion of successful M&A transactions and private placements. Before joining Broadview, Jason held product management roles with Nextel Communications (NASDAQ: NXTL) and Netopia (NASDAQ: NTPA), where he helped the company complete its successful IPO in 1996.

As a board member, Jason has contributed to the development of several early stage technology companies and non-profit organizations. He has served on more than 20 boards, including Apeel Sciences, Invoca, Integrated Fluidics, and Jornaya. He has also served on high-impact non-profit boards, including Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation, the UCSB Economic Forecast, the San Marcos High School Foundation, Peabody Charter School, KnowledgePlex, and the Performance Marketing Association. He is an active angel investor and a co-founding member of the Santa Barbara Angel Alliance as well as a co-founding venture partner of Persistence Partners, an early stage technology venture investment fund. Jason’s early stage investments on the Central Coast include Procore, CallWave, TrackR, iFluidics, bioIQ, and Invoca. Jason is also a named inventor on patents in the internet advertising field, telecommunications, and nanoscale fluidics for diagnostic applications.
